A VERY BIG WELCOME FILIP DUKIĆ

10 September 2022

Filip Dukić is an experienced coach who as a player gained a lot of experience in all different aspects of the game. We are very happy to welcome such an asset.

1. Can you introduce yourself?

"Hello, I am Filip Đukić. I am coming from Montenegro, a small, but country full of sports' talents. As the second tallest nation in Europe, Montenegrins are very passionate about basketball, therefore it was not hard for me to embrace this passion from an early age and keep it until nowadays."

2. What has been your career path so far?

"I started coaching youth teams while I was still an active player, alongside with my university studies. After graduating in Economics, I decided to devote fully to the coaching career and enrolled the University of Leipzig (ITK) as a German Government scholarship holder, pursuing a degree in basketball coaching and physical education. Following the return to Montenegro, I was an assistant coach in "Zeta'', basketball club in first Montenegrin league, where I played professionally for many years. After spending eight years in different clubs and basketball schools in Montenegro, where I tried to pass my knowledge, love and passion for this great game under the rims, I decided to accept the challenge and move to Luxembourg, starting my engagement in BBC Kordall Steelers as a youth coach for different age groups and the first ladies’ team coach during the previous season."

3. What team will you take over in Gréngewald?

"I am joining Gréngewald as a youth coach for different age groups. Having many wonderful memories and valuable experiences from my previous engagements, I am looking forward to meeting Gréngewald’s young selections and creating some amazing moments with them in the upcoming season."

4. Have you been to Luxemburg before?

"Although my first contact with Luxembourg was moving here last year, I was amazed by its internationality and hospitality, charming nature and practical urban areas, making it all together a very pleasant place for life. Beautiful hiking trails were especially helpful when I would feel homesick, reminding me of wild Montenegrin nature."

5. What are your goals for the upcoming season?

"Setting goals is very important, both in team and personally. One of my most important goals is to make sure players are learning, developing and getting the most out of their playing experience. For the younger selections it is very important to focus on the game itself and have fun, instead of putting priority solely on victory. Finally, ultimate goal from my perspective would be becoming reliable teammate, devoted to the game and team and all further learning and success comes after these basics are met."

6. Have you played Basketball before?

"I have played basketball professionally for 10 years in Montenegro, in BBC Studentski centar and BBC Zeta, before finally deciding to concentrate on coaching. Nevertheless, I could not resist trying myself out in the Luxembourgish competitions, so I  joined BBC Kordall Steelers A team for the first half and B team for the rest of the 21/22 season."

7. What do you like to do in your free time?

"Although basketball does not allow too much free time, I like spending available weekends traveling, hiking, fishing, but also photographing nature."
